A cross-section of a cactus skeleton was created by painstakingly removing organic plant material and delicately pulling apart the layers of the cactus to reveal its intricate center. The fine veins of the skeleton were highlighted by hand-painting the piece in gold and setting it within an 11” x 14” black shadow box lined with black velvet. The result is a cactus skeleton that resembles a piece of coral. This piece is on display and for sale at the Wilding Museum of Art and Nature.
