Hollyhocks
$120.00
Black hollyhock flowers were pressed into service with this 9” x 12” eco-print on watercolor paper. The alum mordant transformed the nearly black flower petals into violet and blue splashes of color. One can also see the yellow and rust-colored flower centers. The printing process involved boiling the plant/paper bundle with a splash of vinegar for vibrancy. The image is matted in black. A 11” x 14” black and gold frame makes the colors in this image pop. This piece is currently on display and for sale at the Wilding Museum of Art and Nature.
