A Rose is a Rose

A pink rose, rose leaves, and daisies from my garden served as the subject of this 9” x 12” image on watercolor paper. The rich brown color comes from adding an iron mordant brushed on the paper before the eco-printing process. The iron changed the color of the pink rose to a rich violet while turning the yellow daisies green. The background color variation comes from submerging the paper and plant materials in heated water. The image comes with a black mat and is housed in a wood and copper-colored frame. The framed piece measures 11” x 14”. This piece is currently on display and for sale at the Wilding Museum of Art and Nature.
